Each piece is inspired by an aspect of traditional craft whilst telling the story of the maker and the materials used. The pieces are inspired by the colonial era, adapted to suit today’s contemporary lifestyle - a medley of the cultures of India and Britain, being brought to life in the 21st century.
Jehanara Knowles - The creative director and designer of Kam Ce Kam wanted to establish a brand that not only focuses on the beauty and simplicity of furniture and interior designs, but something that would also bring to light the extraordinary craftsmanship that exists in India.
Each piece, beginning with the skilled history behind the artisan, incorporate age-old techniques such as cane weaving and stone carving. It continues onto the materials where timber, stone, leather and cane are organically fused with seat pads filled with coir and table-tops created from marble offcuts.
‘Agni’ translating to ‘Flame’ is a collaborative piece designed by Atelier Aveus. Agni was conceived as a ‘healing set’ used to display crystals and burn sage and incense, however the set can be adapted to suit everyone’s individual interpretation working as a table centre piece or a food presentation platter.
