Victoria Bakir, a former travel writer and journalist, founded madebywave on a trip across Indonesia in 2015. The brand blends traditional Indonesian craftsmanship with the modern aesthetics of a global traveller.
Inspired by her love of the beach and fashion, Victoria was inspired to combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary lifestyle aesthetics. The brand launched its debut collection in summer 2017, including a range of ethically sourced handwoven sarongs, handmade straw clutches and beach bags, which were complemented by a series of beaded charms. Then, it also launched its bespoke autumn winter collection of straw bags, ideal for colder climates. On top of that, in 2018, madebywave were thrilled to present its resort bags and charms collection - vibrant, sophisticated and fun as ever.
