Omar’s designs are a beautiful, visual representation of contemporary Mexican designs aesthetics. From his unique wax, floral candles to minimalistic tableware, La Muerte Tiene Permiso never fails to make your home feel warm.
Founded by architect and designer Omar Ortiz Franco, he aimed to bring his expertise in design and his in-depth knowledge of Mexico to the table by creating one of a kind, clean homeware pieces to the world.
Each design is based around the traditions of Mexico, its rich history and folk stories told through time. The clean design aesthetic of the pieces makes it suitable for every home.
The sunrise bowl is perfect for a morning cereal or a midday soup. Handmade in Oaxaca, a state rich in pre-hispanic pottery tradition, the smooth tactile finish is one of the most beautiful textures for clay.
The workshop takes the natural clay and cleans it by filtering it for 20 days. The clay is then burnished rather than glazed, by polishing the surface with a quartz crystal until it has a glossy finish with a warm glow. The pieces are then fired in underground pits or kilns, using a wood fire. The pale terracotta is oxidised during firing, leaving the pieces with varied finish on a spectrum from beige to peach.Material & Composition
