Omar’s designs are a beautiful, visual representation of contemporary Mexican designs aesthetics. From his unique wax, floral candles to minimalistic tableware, La Muerte Tiene Permiso never fails to make your home feel warm.
Founded by architect and designer Omar Ortiz Franco, he aimed to bring his expertise in design and his in-depth knowledge of Mexico to the table by creating one of a kind, clean homeware pieces to the world.
Each design is based around the traditions of Mexico, its rich history and folk stories told through time. The clean design aesthetic of the pieces makes it suitable for every home.
Handmade in Mexico by a small community, where the tradition is for women to pick the clay up from the mountains around the town. The pieces are fired with firewood in a brick oven, without use of oil, gas or electricity. The colour of the clay is natural and it is given by the mixture of clay and stone powder from the same region. To create a special and vibrant colour as well as unique shine the pieces are showered in liquid beeswax, creating a very thin cover that penetrates the first layers of the clay, to add an extra watertight layer without changing the taste of your food and it is resistant to boiling liquids.
A simple yet stunning piece of kitchenware that will last a long time.Material & Composition
