Industrial designer, Ai Pheng Yeap lives and breathes Peranakan (Baba Nyonya) culture because she grew up surrounded by it in Penang. She wanted to pay tribute to the culture by fusing the traditional with the modern, therefore creating Nonamu. The brand is to preserve a craft and a history that is slowing fading away, incorporating the heritage into each design.

The Herringbone Collection is Inspired by Peranakan afternoon tea cakes (nyonya kuih), this print design is a fusion of both 'kuih lapis' (a steamed layered dessert) and the herringbone pattern. This scarf is suitable to be used as a neckerchief, headband, wrist wrap, pocket square and to accessorise bags, you can wear it any way you like. The combination of all the different colours reflects the vibrancy of the culture.Material & Composition
