PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Pair of wall lights Anonymous, for the Gävle Theater, Sweden, 1950's. These wall lamps were specially commissioned for the Gävle Theatre, a central hub for the performing arts, on Sweden’s east coast. The generous proportions of the lamps – that stand at an impressive 60 cm / 23 5/8’’ in height – ... are well suited to large, dramatic spaces like a theatre. Elegantly crafted brass mounts attach the lamps to the wall. Perforated brass detailing at the base of the glass globes not only add a decorative element serves as a functional purpose, allowing heat to escape from the light source. The large spherical glass globes diffuse light beautifully, creating a soft, atmospheric glow. These globes would have been crafted using traditional Nordic mouth-blowing techniques. The process involved skilled artisans shaping molten glass into the desired spherical form, ensuring symmetry and a sleek, spherical form. The frosted central glass cylinder further enhances light diffusion, ensuring an even illumination. These were made using sandblasting, giving them their distinct matte texture.
